All our jewellery is made at our trusted workshop in China under the best ethical practices and stringent quality standards. For very urgent orders, we can make the jewellery in Hong Kong at a trusted workshop.

Usually it is the nickel alloy that is mixed with gold that causes allergies. We can make nickel-free products on request. Alternatively, you can use platinum as it is inherently a hypoallergenic metal.

Our diamonds are sourced primarily from diamond polishing companies that procure their uncut diamonds from large mining companies such as De Beers. They all follow De Beers’ Best Practice Principles ensuring the highest ethical standards and integrity throughout the pipeline. Our suppliers provide written guarantees that the diamonds are conflict-free and follow the Kimberely Process.

For diamonds over 0.70ct we usually provide a certificate from an independent laboratory that state all the details about the diamond. The diamonds will be inscribed with its unique certificate number to ensure it matches the certificate.

For diamonds between 0.30ct and 0.69ct, we can provide a certificate if required.

Diamonds below 0.30ct do not come with a certificate, unless you specifically require it. All of Niya K’s invoices clearly state the specifications of the diamonds.

We want to ensure you walk out with a piece you love and will wear. We encourage you to talk to us about your jewellery and we will strive to find a solution. We do not offer upgrade services but can re-purpose your jewellery.

We are able to repair and resize your jewellery, even if it is not created by us. Kindly contact us with details.

To create a bespoke piece of jewellery is takes from 2-3 weeks from your initial consultation to the finished item being with you.

This can vary depending on the complexity of the design, the types of diamonds or gemstones that need to be sources, and whether there are any design changes along the way.

Yes, you will be able to see initial sketched ideas as well as realistic CAD images which will give you a great idea of what the finished piece will look like.

If we are sourcing diamonds or gemstones for you we will also send you photos and videos of the loose stones to make sure you are happy with them before we go ahead too.

The initial consultation is an introduction and a chance for you to ask any questions you may have about the process. There are no silly questions, so ask away!

Niya will try to get an idea of what you are looking for, as well as get some information about the occasion that the jewellery may be for. For example if it is a bespoke engagement ring that you are creating as a surprise, I can get to know the wearer and tailor it to them with special additions to the design.

We will go through your preferences and any inspiration you may have. We will also discuss budget and what is realistic, as well as ways to really maximise your value for money.

Following an initial chat I usually send over some sketches or stone options for you to view by email or whatsapp, and we can go from there.

Of course it’s ok to buy lab grown diamonds as long as you are aware of the pros and cons.

• Pro: Lab grown diamonds serve as an excellent alternative to mined diamond jewellery and engagement rings for customers looking for the same look at a lower price point.
• Pro: Lab grown diamonds are also a good choice to those concerned about the environmental and social impact of diamond mining.
• Con: Prices of lab grown diamonds have been falling significantly as technology improves and they do not have any resale value.
• Con: CVD diamonds lack the heritage that natural diamonds have built over billions of years. They are to be worn and enjoyed, unlike natural diamond jewellery that does retain a significant portion of its value over time and is passed down generations.

It is best to consider lab grown diamonds as separate members of the wider gemstone family, each having their own unique advantages. Many of our customers make some pieces with lab grown diamonds and others in natural diamonds.

Lab grown diamonds should not be confused with diamond simulants, such as Moissanite and Cubic Zircon, which look similar to Natural Diamonds but are not chemically the same element and do not have the same fire and sparkle. Beware of retailers that try to sell such simulated diamonds as lab grown diamonds.

Lab Created Diamonds are available in all the same shapes, colours and clarities as Mined Diamonds. The 4C’s is the best way to start exploring them and figuring out which are best for you. Just like mined diamonds, lab created diamonds are sent to an independent laboratory such as IGI or GIA for certification, which will give all the information about the diamond and state whether the diamond is lab grown or mined. At Niya K, we provide certificates for all our diamonds over 1ct.
